We once introduced the Flying Bulls Aerobatic Team to the Polish air shows market, than “Daisy” – beautifull Dacota DC-3, in 2016, Pioneer Team Polska was born at our show. And this year, as the first in Poland, we will have the honor to show on the water and in the air the icon of the world of seaplanes and planes of the II World War. Ladies and Gentlemen [drum roll] Consolidated Catalina PBY-5A .
One of undoubtedly the biggest attractions of Mazury Airshow 2018. We have long been awaited by us. One of the last three flying in Europe. The history of these aircraft during the II World War was exceptionally extensive, glorious and interesting. They, as hunters, were the bane for submarines. The Royal Air Force Catalina tracked down the German Battleship Bismarck in 1941. It was they who detected the approaching Japanese invasion of Midway on June 3, 1942, they, called Black Emperor, hunted in the night for the imperial convoys in the Pacific, and they saved thousands of pilots and sailors in all seas and oceans of the world.
By some pleasant coincidence, this year is celebrating, like our shows, a round anniversary. Of course, we are much less noble because it is our 20th birthday, but in these circumstances we will be particularly pleased to celebrate her 80th anniversary.
Perhaps other polish air shows creators will follow us and invite Catalina to one another – we would not be surprised because it is a beautiful plane – but we are convinced that on the waters of Lake Niegocin and henerally over Masuria will be exceptionally beautiful.
