TS-8 Bies – Polish training plane, produced in PZL factrory, used in Polish aviation from 1957 to the 1970s.
The airplane was constructed based on the demand for a modern training plane with a three-wheeled chassis with a front wheel, for training pilots of jet aircraft, which at that time became the basis of Polish aviation. It was supposed to replace obsolete Junak 3 planes with a fixed chassis and faster, but with the Jak-11 classic chassis. The main designer was doc. Eng. Tadeusz Sołtyk, hence the designation: “TS”. Work began in 1953, the first prototype was flown on July 23, 1955. In 1957, the prototype broke three international records in this class – the ceiling, speed and distance of aircraft.
He will come to us thanks to the kindness of his owner Jan Borowski and the foundation Monuments of Polish Heaven.
